2023

There has been a new committee elected but The Kirkmichael and Tomintoul Community Association (KaTCA) still needs your support. There is now a fantastic opportunity to get involved in this community led organisation, helping to deliver key benefits across Kirkmichael and Tomintoul.

- KaTCA is your committee supporting local issues and driving improvements in the community. Without your support, this key role that KaTCA provides in the community would be lost:

- KaTCA is your representative at meetings impacting the local community. It ensures we have a collective voice to be heard by the Council, The Crown Estate, Cairngorm National Park, TGDT,  and other bodies.

- KaTCA organise fundraising activities to benefit local initiatives such as the Toddlers Club, extra grass cutting in the square, our annual Christmas lights and, flower and plant displays bringing colour to the village.

- KaTCA organise and maintain the lifesaving defibrillator accessible in the village.

- KaTCA actively pursues local issues on your behalf, liaising with the Council on matters such as speeding, derelict properties, potholes, road sweeping etc.

You will agree that there is still a great deal of valuable work to be done in our community and if you are able to join the committee or lend your time and experience, please send us a direct message via fb messenger or email us using the form in the contacts page to express your interest. A Voice to be Heard

KaTCA gives the local community a voice to be heard by the Council, Cairngorm National Park, The Crown Estate, and other bodies with KaTCA having a representation at various meetings enabling us to influence decision making on matters that could impact upon the local community.

Taking Action

With a growing issue of visitors being ‘caught short’ and having to relieve themselves in places without facilities KaTCA organised a meeting with various bodies including

Cairngorm National Park, Council, Crown Estate, Moray Speyside Tourism to discuss the issue and to explore what action could be taken.

Our meeting resulted in an agreement for additional signage to be provided in the Park to inform visitors where facilities are located in conjunction with the ‘what3word’ app.

The Cairngorm National Park also gave their backing in supporting KaTCA in any future assistance that may be required in respect of the existing Public Toilets.

Fund Raising for the Local Community benefit with various events including Bingo nights, etc, with money going to the Toddlers Club, Grass Cutting, Festive Lights in the Square, and other local causes.

The Touler Magazine

A local quarterly magazine reporting on local interests and going on’s in the Village and surrounding area. Ran by a sub-committee for many years, it has recently fell by the wayside due to lack of volunteers.

The Defibrillator

KaTCA arrange for and maintains the provision of this life saving device in our remote Village.

Public Phone Box

Saved at the last minute from being pulled out of the ground, KaTCA negotiated with the Council and BT to have the phone box reinstall and the phone line reconnect to this vital local service for the community.

Tennis Courts

The public tennis courts are maintained by KaTCA for locals and visitors alike.

Traffic Management

KaTCA has on a number of occasions raised concerns with the Council concerning the problem of drivers speeding through the Village with a number of crashes having occurred. Although previously refused permission to erect any speed limit signage the Council has reviewed their position and we may now be allowed to erect a Smiley Face Speed Sign, with this matter requiring to be progressed further.
